Young Enterprise National Awards 2012
A group of students from Manurewa High School were announced last night as Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Company of the Year 2012.
Caring & Co from Manurewa High School beat 19 other teams from around the country to take out the coveted title. Each team had just five minutes to pitch their business to a panel of business experts, including Trilogy co-founder Sarah Gibbs and Mark Vivian from angel investor Movac.
The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme is a one-year programme that gives secondary students the chance to set up and run a small business. The programme is run throughout New Zealand by the Young Enterprise Trust, with just over 3000 students taking part this year.
Each student team has had to form a company, research and write a business plan and bring their product or service to market.
Caring & Co have created an award winning olive oil, with profits from their sales helping to fund local primary school children through a Life Education Trust programme.
