Hutt Chamber of Commerce
- Business Awards 2014 -
Masterpet Corporation from Lower Hutt was named supreme business award winner at the Westpac Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce business excellence awards held in studio 8 at Avalon Studios last night (Friday 7 November).
Chamber Chief Executive Mark Futter says the winning company had recently built a new headquarters in Gracefield and had operated successfully from its Lower Hutt base for many years.
“The standard was very high across all categories which included a number of special awards among them a Mayoral Award given by Hutt Valley Mayors Guppy and Wallace, which went to a community organisation Earthlink set – up in 1994 as a recycling operation by Shirley Cressy who still runs the enterprise 20 years later.”
Mr Futter says he was very pleased with the standard of the entries this year .
“The awards are a great opportunity to encourage and acknowledge business excellence across the Hutt Valley and wider Wellington region and further stimulate economic growth,” he says.
A new category for young business person of the year went to Hayden Kirk whose organisation Layer3 Limited already has made a significant impact, while James Henry flooring took out awards for innovation, sustainability and best emerging business.
“They are examples of the talent, drive and enthusiasm that is part of the Hutt Valley and Wellington Region’s business culture,” he says.
The awards were presented at a black tie dinner held at the Avalon Studios attended by businesses, community leaders and both Local and Central Government representatives from across the Hutt Valley and wider Wellington Region.
