Behind The Scenes at Wellington Fashion Week & Lexus Shoot

Check the final client images from this photoshoot here As part of being Wellington Fashion Week’s official photographer again for 2014, I was asked to create some images showing the relationship between their key sponsor Lexus, and the fashion that surrounds Wellington Fashion Week. I picked this lovely silver Lexus IS250 SPORT model up from the dealership, and headed up to Wellington’s botanical gardens for the afternoon shoot. After a quick hunt around the… Read more »

100MP Photo of Mount Egmont

While up in Taranaki last weekend for Michael & Roseanne’s wedding, my wife & I decided to get up-close-and-personal with Mount Taranaki. The mountain has always been a far-away landmark, so was amazing to drive to the base of the mountain. Having a super-prego wife, we weren’t going to throw the hiking boots on and get any closer, but did decide to create this 100MP photo! Stitching images together from my Canon 5Dmk3 resulted in… Read more »

The Nokia 1020 certainly did that, and some. While the phone comes into a smartphone category, I think it would be better suited as a smartcamera! The 41MP camera surely is something. Having full control of… Read more »

Barbie Camera Challenge with Philip Bloom

English filmmaker Philip Bloom was recently put to the challenge to produce a short video for DigitalRev TV. They regularly get pro photographers on the show, give them the worst cameras in the world and see what magic they can work. Mixing things up this time by using a filmmaker was hard enough, but giving Philip a Barbie Camera that doesn’t even shoot standard definition was always going to be a… Read more »

Are casinos photo-friendly?

This is a question that crops up quite regularly, not from the perspective of potentially being a great shoot location, but from the angle of whether it’s actually legal to take photos inside a casino. It seems like the policies vary from casino to casino but as far as my investigations show its not illegal to take photos inside, it’s just not always allowed. Most casinos will clearly state their photo policy and this usually… Read more »

Wellington Cafes – Computer Friendly (Wifi & Power Plugs)

Not being able to find a list myself, I’ve decided to start creating one myself.
