Waking up in the city of love

Wow. It’s amazing what difference and amazing bed can make to a nights sleep. We were lucky enough to have a super king in our room, and we could almost starfish without touching each other! If you’re ever staying in Paris and want a fine hotel, look no further that Hotel de Sers. I can highly recommend every aspect of the hotel, and made our visit to Paris so much more enjoyable. After… Read more »

Bonjour Paris

Another full on day. Oooosh. I’m sure our bodies will eventually give up, hopefully that’s on the flight home in 6 weeks time! As I said in my last blog, I had Richard & Laura’s wedding yesterday in a tiny village called St. Michael. I haven’t seen two people so in love with each other for so long, and was beautiful to see them both enjoying each others… Read more »

Adios London, but before we go…

Our third and final day in London. Another early start… 7am and we were out the door! A quick tube ride across to ‘Bank’, which is where all the major bank HQ’s are. Another good hearty breakfast at a little place not far from the station. We decided to shop around this time, after a bad experience on our first day where we spend NZD$55 on two coffees and two slices of cake! We forgot that… Read more »

London Round Two

Well we are more than over our jetlag now, but these super long days are bloody tiring! Today was no different, as I write this it’s 11:28pm, we’ve just got home after we left at 9am this morning. Nothing like a good hardy breakfast to get you through the day, we noticed this nice looking place outside Waterloo station yesterday. NZD$15-ish for a full english breakfast with tea or coffee. Can’t go wrong with that!… Read more »

London Day One

The day started much earlier than it would usually otherwise. We left my cousin Ben’s place in Elephant & Castle nice and early at 7:30am. We arrived into Waterloo Train Station where I introduced Emma to Cornish Pasties & Walkers Crisps. Yum! We headed straight for the London Eye, but after we discovered it didn’t open till 10am, we walked over the Westminster Bridge and down along the Thames River and just went exploring.  … Read more »

Emirates A380 and Dubai Airport

Arrived in Sydney with no drama. A quick run through security and we were in the departure lounge to get back on the same plane. First leg to Sydney was short (3hrs) but the next leg through to Dubai was 13hrs, which went remarkably fast. Also meant when we came to leave Dubai only had 7 more hours till we were in London, which I personally thought was a bit better than the 50/50 split going via… Read more »

Goodbye New Zealand

We made it! Waiting in the departure lounge at Auckland International Airport. Flew up from Wellington last night and snapped this out the plane window using some clever photostiching. After touching down in Auckland we were greeted by our close friends Matt & Rach who put us up for the night, so we headed out to Mexican Cafe to catch up and thank them for having us! If you haven’t indulged in Auckland’s Mexican Cafe yet,… Read more »

The final countdown

Well the day is finally here! In exactly 12 hours time we will be falling into our seats en route to Auckland for the first, of many, legs of our trip. I’ve been very good to not spill the beans on the trip. But can tell you this – we’re away for 7 weeks, visiting 12 different countries, and as I write this I am currently removing every single file from my MacBookPro (250gb) and… Read more »

Europe Trip

Well the flights are booked but little else, as we get down to the 1 month countdown before we set sail and head to Europe. That does mean that between now and the 29th April it will be anything BUT a holiday. Head down, bum up, long hours, sleepless nights. Ticking everything off my mile long list of things to do before I leave will be make falling into that seat aboard Emirates new A380 that much… Read more »
