This is a question I get asked quite a bit, and I’m sure a question that some guys think even more than I get asked. Should guys wear make-up for photo shoots?
I worked with Hil Cook recently, and got talking about make-up for guys. Hil’s talent as a hair, make-up and prosthetic artist is recognized world wide. Her work has graced the pages of International make-up artistry magazine and Italian Vogue and lit up the silver screen in some of the biggest movies of all time including Lord of the Rings, Avatar and the Hobbit. Hil reckons guys should wear make-up & get their hair styled professional, but just a natural look that enhances what they already have and is barely even recognisable to the untrained eye.
Intrigued by this, I was interested to see what magic Hil could pull out sometime in the future when we worked together again.
It wasn’t too long before her husband Rodney Cook needed some professional headshots for the Stunt Guild of NZ. Perfect!
