I started writing a list of the gear I want to take on my honeymoon to Fiji next month and now with the list a mile long I’ve got to start justifying it to myself – so thought, why not share that?
Canon 5Dmk2 – Was never going to leave my DSLR at home. Ever.
Canon 24-70 f/2.8 lens – My favourite lens, versatile for most situations.
Canon 16-35 f/2.8 lens – Didn’t take this puppy to Europe, and regretted it. Can get some very nice wide shots with this puppy. Will be my lens of choice for the time lapse photography too.
Syrp Genie – The greatest little box in the world for motion controlled time lapse photography. Put on the top of the tripod, you can program all sorts of motion into this, which is performed over a long period of time producing amazing motion timelapses! (Check out my first play over in the Wairarapa)
Tripod – Thinking of purchasing a new lighter-weight tripod. My current one is amazing, but a bit on the heavy side. I’ll probably only use it for the time-lapses.
GoPro Hero3 – Underwater HD video camera? You’re in the bag! Along with head, wrist & tripod mounts.
DJI Phantom – My remote controlled aerial photography helicopter. Was hard justifying this one, but hell why not!
Apple MacBookPro – Can’t take all this gear and not be able to view any footage. Wont be any internet coverage anywhere on the remote islands we’re visiting.
DiCAPac WP-S10 – Underwater camera bag for my Canon 5Dmk2. A fraction of the cost of a underwater housing. Interested to see how this performs as it’s a only a new addition to my kit.
Maybe Gear
I’m wanting to take my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom lens, but she’s quite a beast. Not sure how much use it would get, but I guess it’s one of those things that if I do take it I probably wont use it much, but if I don’t take it I’ll be kicking myself I didn’t at least once during the trip.
Any other travelling pros got any suggestions of things to take? Bearing in mind it is my honeymoon, and the number one activity I want to do is put my feet up and not think about life.
