With the rise of services such as iTunes & Spotify – getting an epic collection of songs for your wedding together is now easier than ever!
With weddings costing more than ever, one of the first things to start trying to cut back on is having a band or a DJ at your event. I’m noticing more and more at weddings I attend that some people are opting for a iPod or Laptop plugged into a speaker setup which can be hired relatively cheaply, or a lot of venues have already included.
This isn’t to say that your own playlist is as good as a band. You can’t beat having an epic covers band pulling people onto the dance floor, and keeping the tunes flowing one after the other all night. If you are looking for a good covers band for your wedding, check out The Noodles & The Dufraines (We had them at our wedding, but they’ve since gone into hiding for a year or so).
I’ve put together a bit of a playlist in Spotify (Click to launch in Spotify, or click here to view in a web browser if you don’t have Spotify yet), which you can easily follow and sync to any device for free. The only way to skip the adverts is by being a paying customer, but even if you pay for a months subscription (around $10NZD) that’s still a tiny cost for the ultimate music collection.
I don’t expect this playlist to be perfect for everyone, there’s a WHOLE lot in there (11hrs+) so the idea is you subscribe, and then pull out the songs that tickle your fancy. Or if you CBF, just hit “shuffle play” and BOOM wedding music ticked off your wedding to-do list.
Also check out this blog I wrote last year (which ended up being my most viewed blog for 2014!) which has some song suggestions for key parts of the day (walking down the aisle, first dance etc)
